Students will participate in this program within the LifeEd Educational Van, (on school grounds), accompanied by their class Teacher. Modules are selected for each year level by the class teachers to ensure the topics covered are both relevant for their students and linked to the curriculum being covered in that year level. Learning experiences in the LifeEd van will be scheduled within the usual school day around usual lunchbreaks and play times.


Learning Modules​

PREP students will participate in the 'My Body Matters' module:

Everything your body needs for a healthy day.  In this module students learn about choices and behaviours that promote health, safety and wellbeing as they are growing and changing.  They explore personal hygiene, healthy food choices, the benefits of physical activity and sleep, as well as ways to keep safe at home, school and in the community.  Learning includes: • The importance of personal hygiene • Choosing foods for a healthy, balanced diet • The benefits of physical activity and sleep • Safety at home, school and in the community.

 

1Y & 1TS students will participate in the 'Harold's Friend Ship' module:

Friendships, feelings and body clues.  In this module students consider the importance of relationships and gain skills to seek help in a variety of situations.  They have opportunities to practice strategies to manage their feelings and emotions.  Learning includes: • How to build friendships and care for others • Identifying and managing feelings and emotions • Recognising body clues that let us know when we could be unsafe • Safe people and places to seek help.

 

2P, 2H & 2/3F students will participate in the 'Growing Good Friends' module:

Nurturing our bodies and friendships. In this module students investigate healthy lifestyle choices and factors that impact health and emotional wellbeing.  This includes learning about healthy food choices and considering how media and advertising messages influence food choices.  Key areas covered: • Recognising how nutrition and physical activity contribute to health • Exploring health messages and advertising influences • Identifying the qualities and attributes of a good friend Harold battles to figure out what to give his grandma for her birthday, until his friends, Boots and Red step in and offer some good ideas.  This animated story takes us to familiar surroundings where students can: • explore what health messages mean • identify safety signs • recognise how physical activity and nutrition contribute to a healthy lifestyle • People in our network who can support and help us.

 

3AM, 3VM & 3W students will participate in the 'The Inside Story - Discovering a Healthy Active You" module:

ALL SYSTEMS GO The Inside Story Years 2 - 4 Years 3-4 Discovering a healthy active you. Inside a futuristic machine 'The Venture', the captain and his crew take the class on a tour of the human body. Travelling through the blood, the class explore and discover how magnificent the human body really is. Students explore the functions of various body parts and the actions required to keep these systems working well including: This fun interactive lesson is set in a kid's TV news program. A team of young scientists shrink Harold and place him in a tiny capsule so he can travel inside the body and report back on what he sees. Learning includes: • The benefits of healthy food for health and energy • factors that influence physical health, such as nutrition, exercise and medicines.

 

4F, 4G & 4M students will participate in the 'bCyberwise' module:

Digital literacy and staying safe. • Practising emotional regulation skills such as mindful breathing Years 3-5 In this updated module students investigate their use of tech and the positives and negatives of being online, including unwanted contact and unsafe situations. The 'Recognise, React, Report' strategy enables them to recognise the clues the body gives when they may be unsafe, to react in appropriate ways and to report and seek help. Learning includes: • Keeping personal information safe online • How to recognise, react and report unwanted contact and potential predatory behaviours Harold's Healthy Foods • Responsible and respectful behaviour when using communication technology • Skills for building positive relationships with friends • Exploring the role of bystanders


5K, 5M & 5O students will participate in the 'Take a Breath' module:

Students investigate the issues around vaping and smoking. Students are encouraged to stop and 'take a breath', ask questions, seek answers, and exercise critical thinking skills before making a decision. • Impacts of smoking and vaping • Drawing comparisons and connections between e-cigarettes/ vaping and the history of tobacco smoking. • The effects of nicotine on the body and brain. • Strategies and responses that model assertiveness and resilience in challenging situations.

 

6BMG1, 6BMG2 & 6BMG3 students will participate in the 'Relate Respect Connect' module:

Unique, contemporary module that explores building positive, safe and respectful relationships. Presented via a series of fictitious vlogs that resonate with young people moving through upper primary school and beyond this module focuses on: · understanding how to respect ourselves and others • identifying characteristics of positive relationships • strategies to help maintain positive online and offline relationships • strategies to respond to unsafe or disrespectful situations online and offline · the importance of reporting unwanted contact, bullying or predatory behaviours.
