The Concert Band Program continues to increase in student numbers each year at Pacific Paradise and is currently taught by Ms Margot Payne. We offer a wide range of Woodwind, Brass and Percussion instruments. Our students have a weekly group lesson of 30 minutes during class time and are invited to participate in our Concert Band before school when they achieve a certain level.
The Concert Band has many opportunities to perform at such as school parades, the Sunshine Coast Junior Eisteddfod, FANFARE (the biennial State wide festival for bands and orchestras in Qld state schools), Workshop days where special conductors and tutors are invited to help teach in their specialist instruments, Soiree (a concert where students perform in small groups for parents), Under 8s day where students become ‘roaming buskers’ and community events.
As well as performing it is also important for the students to hear other professional ensembles play so an excursion to the Qld Symphony Orchestra in Brisbane is a fantastic opportunity. All these performances and extra excursions showcase the wonderful music making that occurs in Pacific Paradise.
The Instrumental Music Program continues to strive for excellence with their performances and overall presentation of the ensembles. Both the String Ensemble and Concert Band have music uniforms to promote that Pacific Paradise State School has a wonderful Instrumental Music Program and how it is committed to cultural growth of both the school and its students.
