BYOD -Bring Your Own Device

In 2018, we are initiating the Pacific Paradise State School’s transition to “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD). Over the next four years we will expand the program across the school.

We are introducing BYOD to our school, with the support of our P&C Association, to support our students in their investigations and engagement in the digital learning space/s that will be created with the students in their classrooms. Our Year 4 and Year 5 classes will be leading the introduction of BYOD for our school.

All students will still interact with each other face to face - there will be lots of designing, model making and even building, and ICT tools will be used as aids to learning, not BE the learning.

Of course, parents/caregivers may choose not to provide a device – we will offer students access to a classroom based device, shared with 3 other students, that is one device to be shared by 4 students. This ratio is similar to the ratio that currently exists in our Year 4 – Year 6 classes. Students who are accessing their digital learning space through school devices will not be able to take school devices home with them. Home computers, assuming they have internet capability, should be able to access the learning spaces used at school.
