Rule of the Week

This week’s rule of the week is-Follow the Rules of the Game.
A great way to practise the turn-taking and the social skills involved in game playing at school is to have fun practising these skills at home playing board games or sports with friends and family.
When playing board games, children learn to take turns, to wait, to dis-cuss and negotiate rules and to cope with the disappointment of not winning every time. Likewise, participation in any kind of sport not only has enormous physical benefits but teaches children skills of getting along, team work, rule negotiation and accepting that when they are ‘out’, they need to exit and let the next person have their turn without argument. We will be reinforcing this rule in classrooms and in the playground this week.
