Rememberance Day

Remembrance Day this year is Tuesday 11 November. The school will hold a Remembrance
Day Service starting at 10.30am on that day. Parents and the community are welcome
to attend this service. With next year being the 100th anniversary of Gallipoli it is
important that children understand the significance of Anzac Day and Remembrance
Day. On this day 100 years ago Australian troops were already on board ships bound for
World War One and Gallipoli. This year the school is running a Remembrance Day Writing
Competition where students are encouraged to write one of the following: a poem, a
letter, a section of a diary or a newspaper report. Also, we are hoping to create one thousand
poppies. We will get students to make simple crafted poppies which will be attached
to sticks and displayed in our Remembrance garden (under the flag poles).
